As Bryan Cook departs the Kansas City Chiefs to join the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs have added another safety.

Kansas City has come to terms with now-former Baltimore Ravens safety Alohi Gilman, a source confirmed to The Star. NFL Network, citing Gilman’s agency, said it’s a three-year deal for $24.75 million, including $15 million guaranteed.

Gilman, 28, first entered the league as a 2020 sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame with the Los Angeles Chargers. Gilman spent five seasons in Los Angeles before the club traded him to the Baltimore Ravens last October.

In 17 appearances between the Chargers and Ravens in 2025, Gilman registered 90 tackles, nine passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Gilman brings the positional versatility defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo likes, and he projects as a direct replacement for Cook.

According to Pro Football Focus, Cook lined up 55.8% of the time at free safety, 30.1% in the box and 11.9% in the slot. By comparison, Gilman lined up 52.9% at free safety, 30.6% in the box and 10.3% in the slot.

Gilman joins Chamarri Conner, Jaden Hicks, Chris Roland-Wallace and Tanner McCalister (reserve/futures deal) in the safety room for the 2026 season.
