The New York Giants had a busy day on Monday, as the team was active on the first day of free agency. Big Blue added talent on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, emerging as one of the more active teams on the opening day of the league’s tampering period.
Lost in the shuffle of free agency’s first day was the NFL’s announcement of compensatory picks awarded to each team. Unfortunately, the Giants did not receive any compensatory picks for their free-agency departures from last offseason.
To make matters worse for Big Blue, the NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles were awarded compensatory picks in Rounds 3, 4, 5, and 6, while the Dallas Cowboys received two fifth-round picks.
The Giants will likely receive compensatory picks around this time next year for the departures of Wan’Dale Robinson and Cor’Dale Flott during this year’s free-agency period.
Certainly, new head coach John Harbaugh could have benefited from any and all extra picks this year, especially since the Giants are already without a third-round pick in the upcoming draft. That selection was used last year to move up and select quarterback Jaxson Dart.

As the Giants look ahead to the 2026 NFL draft, they will have to make the most of the selections they do have. Although the team may be a bit of a wild card in the first draft under the leadership of John Harbaugh.
