Running back Tyler Allgeier has agreed to a two-year, $12.25 million free-agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals, a league source said. It’s worth up to $16.25 million with incentives.
Allgeier was ranked No. 69 on The Athletic’s list of the top 150 free agents of 2026 and was the fifth-ranked running back.
After being selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of BYU, Allgeier set the Falcons’ rookie rushing record with 1,035 yards in his first season. His production dipped from there, but only because Atlanta drafted Bijan Robinson with the eighth pick in the 2023 draft. Allgeier served as Robinson’s backup for the past three seasons, totaling 1,841 yards on 466 carries in that time.
Over his four seasons as a pro, Allgeier is sixth in the NFL in rushing success rate (42 percent) and 11th in EPA per rush (0.01) among all running backs, according to TruMedia. He is also one of three running backs with more than 500 carries in the last four seasons who has not fumbled the ball. Kenneth Walker III — who agreed to a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday — and Houston’s Joe Mixon are the other two.
Allgeier and Robinson developed a close friendship during their time together in Atlanta, but both seemed to acknowledge that they would be parting ways this offseason.
“That’s my brother right there,” Robinson said after the Falcons’ final game. “I pray whatever happens is the best for him. That’s the biggest thing. I want everything for him to happen.”
“I think I’ve always had my eyes on being the starter,” Allgeier said.
