The Miami Dolphins are expected to sign former Atlanta Falcons kicker Zane Gonzalez to a one-year deal, according to his agent, Mike McCartney. Gonzalez was signed by Atlanta in the middle of the 2025 season and helped solidify the kicker position over the final nine games.
The 30-year-old converted on 19 of 22 field-goal attempts and 17 of 18 extra points with the Falcons last year. Gonzalez will replace former Dolphins kicker Riley Patterson next season in Miami.
While many thought Gonzalez would be back in 2026, the Falcons opted to go in a different direction. The team agreed to terms with veteran Nick Folk on Day 1 of the free agency legal tampering period.
Folk, 41, has been one of the most consistent kickers in the league for nearly two decades. He made the Pro Bowl during his rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007, and had arguably the best year of his career with the New York Jets in 2025.
The Falcons also made a change at punter, signing Jake Bailey and letting Bradley Pinion enter free agency. Pinion spent the last four seasons in Atlanta, but won’t be returning in 2026.
