If the 2026 NFL free agency period were a pond, then Trey Hendrickson would be the gigantic fish that every team is trying to reel in.

In 2024, Hendrickson was the leading sack man in the NFL, dragging a broken and weak Cincinnati Bengals defense across the line on multiple occasions on his own.

Although he took a massive step back in 2025 with only four sacks, Hendrickson is a player who can transform a defense.

He’s an anchor. He’s a true ace defensive end who makes everyone around him’s job easier. It opens up more space for the rest of the line while the attention is on Hendrickson. It helps the secondary by preventing routes from reaching their endpoints.

And while everyone is checking in on Hendrickson, his camp has been quiet through the first two days of free agency.

But with Wednesday being the first day that players can actually put their signature to the dotted line, there is news that will either scare or bring hope to fanbases across the NFL.

Per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Hendrickson is expected to make his soon.

“Free agent pass rusher Trey Hendrickson is expected to make a formal decision tomorrow, per sources,” she posted on social media. “Several teams continue to monitor the market and remain interested. He has offers on the table.”

Of those teams interested, the favored ones to land Hendrickson are the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was also reported on Tuesday that the Bills had been in contact with Hendrickson’s camp about working through a deal to bring the former sacks leader to New York.
