The Detroit Lions addressed one of its needs on Tuesday, signing former Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco.

Known for an angry, downhill running style, Pacheco should pair well with three-time Pro Bowler Jahmyr Gibbs in the Lions‘ backfield.

What does Pacheco’s Lions contract look like, though? Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported on Tuesday night that Pacheco’s deal is a one-year, fully guaranteed $1.8 million deal.

Pacheco just completed his four-year, $3.7 million rookie contract with the Chiefs. The 5-foot-10, 216-pound running back was originally drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Rutgers.

A 27-year-old, Pacheco has run for 2,537 yards and 14 touchdowns in 51 career NFL regular-season games and an additional 547 rushing yards and four touchdowns in 10 career playoff games.

Pacheco’s production diminished the past two seasons as he dealt with injuries. In 2024, Pacheco was limited to just seven games played, 310 rushing yards and one touchdown because of a fractured fibula. A right knee injury cost Pacheco four more games last season as he finished with just 462 rushing yards and one touchdown.

The Lions hope that Pacheco can rediscover some of the explosiveness that saw him approach the 1,000-yard rushing plateau in both 2022 and in 2023 when he finished with 830 and 935 rushing yards, respectively.
