Oh look, a Nick Caserio trade that will have implications down the line and nothing right now.
Just your average Houston Texans‘ offseason.
According to reports, the Texans plan to trade a 2028 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for punter Kai Kroeger and a 2028 seventh-round pick. Kroeger will now replace Tommy Townsend as the next leg of Houston long-term in the punting game and the hope is he’ll improve away from the Superdome.
A former South Carolina standout, Kroeger played only one season in New Orleans after joining the team as an undrafted free agent. He averaged 44.8 yards per punt and had 18 punts downed inside the 20. He also had two punts blocked, which led the NFL.
This is the second major special teams move made by the Texans on Tuesday, as former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and special teams standout Jake Hummel agreed to a one-year deal. Over his time with the Ravens, Hummel played 82 percent of the Ravens’ special teams snaps and logged 49 career tackles.
