Tuesday was Day Two of the NFL’s “legal tapering” period, but the biggest news of the day came well after business hours, and with just hours to go before all those handshake agreements become official with pen and paper. With the announcement that the Ravens have pulled out of their trade with the Raiders for Maxx Crosby, the Cowboys are suddenly back in the mix with a second chance to land the superstar edge rusher (although they’re saying-at least publicly- they won’t re-engage with Las Vegas). Will Dallas look to their own medical staff to give Crosby a clean grade? Does the medical issue drop Crosby’s price? Would the Cowboys jump… and if they do, what does that mean for the Rashan Gary trade that Dallas swung after losing out on Crosby the first time? This story will dominate the league’s entire news cycle as free agency begins.

Meanwhile, business did roll on at The Star on Tuesday, with the Cowboys coming to terms with safety P.J. Locke and defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia. Internally, they restructured Kenny Clark and re-signed Sam Williams. And teams are now reaching out to Dallas about D-tackle Osa Odighizuwa. He signed a massive deal last year; would the Cowboys be looking to trade him amid all the defensive changes under a new coordinator?

Elsewhere in the division, the Eagles are bringing aboard Super Bowl champion Riq Woolen. And they’re restocking at tight end; does that mean longtime star Dallas Goedert is on the way out of Philly? In Washington, the addition of linebacker Leo Chenal may spell the end for Bobby Wagner. And the Giants are set to welcome aboard cornerback Greg Newsome II and kicker Jason Sanders.

Around the league, more big names found new homes. Quarterback Geno Smith is on his way back to the Jets, running back Isaiah Pacheco is going to partner up with Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit, and wide receiver Romeo Doubs is off to New England. And while Brandon Aubrey waits to see if he gets any blockbuster offers from outside the 214, Houston may have just changed the equation by setting a new bar for kicker pay.
