SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Brian Jean-Mary, who recently joined the Notre Dame football staff as linebackers coach and run game coordinator, is among several new coaches entering their first year with the Fighting Irish ahead of spring practices.
Jean-Mary comes to Notre Dame most recently from the University of Michigan, where the Wolverines defense ranked 19th among all FBS programs in rushing defense and 23rd in total defense under his guidance.
Jean-Mary brings 25 years of collegiate coaching experience to the program. He said the tradition at Notre Dame sets a clear expectation for everyone on staff.
“You’re at a program and what makes it a blue blood is because you have a tradition of winning — winning at a high level, produced a lot of great players — obviously with the Heismans and some of the individual awards, but you have a high standard here where you want to finish at the end of the year,” Jean-Mary said. “I’ve learned that at some of my previous stops. Obviously with the tradition and the history of this program, it’s a very, very high standard and you know what you’re chasing every day when you show up to work.”
Notre Dame’s 2026 Blue-Gold Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at Notre Dame Stadium.
