The New York Giants had a surprising reunion with one of its former first round picks.

Former Alabama offensive lineman Evan Neal will be resigning with New York despite four poor seasons with the franchise according to ESPN. Neal was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and is now getting another chance with the team under new head coach John Harbaugh.

The Giants had declined Neal’s fifth year option which made him a free agent this offseason. After back-to-back seasons struggling at offensive tackle, the team attempted to move him inside to guard in hopes to salvage his time with the team. Neal was ultimately a healthy scratch for a majority of the 2025 season.

Since being drafted by the Giants, Neal has appeared in 29 games with 27 starts.

Prior to his time in the NFL, Neal was a three year starter at Alabama showing versatility at both guard and tackle. He helped the Crimson Tide win the national championship in 2020 and was named to the All-SEC First Team in 2021 and was a consensus All-American.
