The reported agreement between the Carolina Panthers and receiver John Metchie may not be just “reported” for much longer.

News of the free-agent wideout’s deal with the team hit on Wednesday, just after the official start of the new league year. According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, Metchie is expected to sign a one-year deal to land in Carolina.

But we might not have to wait for the signature, as Metchie posted the following story on his Instgram account of himself and Panthers quarterback Bryce Young . . .

Young and Metchie were teammates at the University of Alabama from 2020 to 2021. Metchie, in Young’s Heisman Trophy-winning campaign in 2021, led the Crimson Tide in catches (92) while recording 1,142 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

The Panthers would mark Metchie’s fourth team in his five-year NFL tenure.
