The San Francisco 49ers won’t have Robert Beal Jr. on the team next season. The former fifth-round pick is signing with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, leaving Santa Clara after three seasons, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
He was picked 173rd overall in 2023 out of Georgia, playing 25 games for the 49ers in the last three seasons. He recorded one sack, 36 total tackles and one tackle for a loss.
Beal, 26, bounced back and forth from the active roster to the practice squad last season after being waived in September. He was a restricted free agent this offseason but the 49ers opted not to tender him, allowing him to hit free agency and test the market.
Last season, Beal played seven games, as well as one game in the postseason. He finished the regular season with 14 tackles.
