The Cleveland Browns enter another NFL season with several issues to address. After a busy 2025 NFL draft, neither Shedeur Sanders nor Dillon Gabriel was the answer to their problems. This year’s draft presents a new opportunity to find their franchise quarterback.

One of the potential candidates to land in Cleveland, Alabama’s Ty Simpson, floated the idea of joining the Browns next month. Additionally, he gave it a twist to his potential arrival, calling for the Browns to draft him and Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate.

“That’s something that you’d have to ask Coach [Todd Monken] and [General Manager Andrew Barry],” Simpson told Kay Adams on Thursday’s edition of her “Up & Adams” show, adding, “I think it’d be great. They’ve got it going up there.”

“If I’m able to throw to Carnell, it’d be great. It would be something that we’d always be on the same page, and hopefully we’d take the league by storm,” he said.

Simpson comes off the best season of his college career. He went 305 of 473 for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns with five interceptions. With Dante Moore returning to college, Simpson became the No. 2 quarterback in this draft. Some even have him higher than Fernando Mendoza.

A couple of weeks ago, Ty Simpson expressed his desire to join the Browns and play under Todd Monken, who happens to be a family friend.

“My dad and coach Monken go way back,” Simpson told Cleveland.com. “They talk often. He texted him when he got the job and they’ve texted a little bit [since], so if I had the opportunity to play for the Browns, it would be a dream come true.”

Monken tried to recruit Simpson to Georgia, but the quarterback committed to Alabama. They could join forces in 2026, and also add Tate to the mix.
