We are now in the thick of NFL free agency and plenty of big names have already changed teams.
The Washington Commanders have been one of the busier teams so far. The team has kept some of its own free agents, like Marcus Mariota and Treylon Burks, and also made notable outside additions, like edge-rusher Odafe Oweh and tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo.
On Thursday, the team added another piece to the offense — running back Rachaad White. If you’ve been paying attention, you shouldn’t be surprised by this move. White posted a few times this offseason, insinuating he wanted to reunite with college teammate Jayden Daniels, and now he will get that chance.
White and Daniels played together at Arizona State in 2020 and 2021. White played a big role on the offense in 2021, rushing for over 1,000 yards and also catching 43 passes from Daniels for 456 more yards and one score.
Now, the hope is that the duo’s chemistry will help the Commanders in 2026. Austin Ekeler and Chris Rodriguez are gone, so the team will likely rely on a combination of White and Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

The Arizona State product also caught 40 passes for 218 yards, showing his ability to contribute in multiple ways. White’s best NFL season came in 2023 when he ended with just under 1,000 rushing yards and six rushing scores.
