After signing Rico Dowdle this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers now have one of the best running back duos in the NFL between him and Jaylen Warren.

It’s also the only running back room in the league where the top two running backs are both undrafted free agents.

The Steelers signed Warren as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He’s since blossomed into one of the best running backs in the league, surpassing 1,000 scrimmage yards twice in the past three seasons.

Dowdle entered the league two years before Warren in 2020 with the Dallas Cowboys. He was a backup until 2024 but has flourished over the past two seasons, topping 1,000 rushing yards in both years.

Now, they share a backfield.

According to Dowdle, the two already admired each other from afar before becoming teammates.

“Jaylen reached out to me during the season last year. He liked my style of play, my game and stuff. You know, just keep putting on for the undrafted guys,” Dowdle said during his introductory press conference on Friday. “Now we together here, so we get to do it together.”

The two combined for over 2,000 rushing yards last year, so Pittsburgh should have an elite rushing attack this year.
