Anchor Bay High School announced the hiring of Tim Brandon as its new varsity football coach via their Facebook page on Monday morning.
Brandon has 15 years of head coaching experience, all at Grosse Pointe South. The Blue Devils had 14 winning seasons, eight division titles, 12 playoff experiences and a trip to the state final four in 2010 under Brandon, jump–starting a program that is still one of the best in the Macomb Area Conference – and state – today.
“Anchor Bay High School is proud to announce the hiring of Tim Brandon as our new Head Football Coach,” said Anchor Bay Athletic Director Jeremy Spezia.
“Throughout his career, Coach Brandon has built a reputation for developing student-athletes into leaders, fostering a culture of hard work, accountability, and sportsmanship. His passion for football, dedication to education, and commitment to building strong community ties make him an outstanding addition to Anchor Bay.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Brandon to the Anchor Bay family and look forward to the leadership and vision he will bring to our football program and our school community.”
Grosse Pointe South also had nine academic all-state honors during the time and one of his former players, University of Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, was just selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
He resigned from his post at GPS following the 2021 season.
Brandon’s most recent gig was with the Stevenson Titans as their offensive line coach and he has previously served at Grosse Pointe North and De La Salle.
Anchor Bay is coming off a 3-6 season during which they placed their now-former head coach, Mike Giannone, under administrative leave after a 2-1 start.
