The Miami Dolphins entered free agency with a lackluster pass rush after moving on from Jaelan Phillips at the deadline and cutting Bradley Chubb before the new league year.

Miami is trying to remedy the situation by bringing in linebacker David Ojabo, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Ojabo, 25, was a standout at Michigan from 2019-21, earning All-Big Ten honors and All-American honors in his final year. He appeared in 14 games in 2021, recording 35 tackles, 11 sacks, five forced fumbles, three passes defensed and one fumble recovery.

The linebacker tore his Achilles at his Pro Day, dropping him to a Day-2 pick, as the Baltimore Ravens took him in the second round (No. 45 overall) of the 2022 NFL draft. He missed most of his rookie season, and three games into his second year, he tore his ACL and sat the rest of that year.

In total, Ojabo has appeared in 32 games over four years and has recorded 32 tackles, 10 quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Miami is hoping the change of scenery helps Ojabo recapture the magic he showed as a Wolverine. Now, he’ll the opportunity to do that alongside Chop Robinson, Cameron Goode, Seth Coleman, Robert Beal, Derrick McLendon and his former college teammate Joshua Uche.
