The Atlanta Falcons have signed veteran defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand to a one-year, $3 million contract, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo. Hand, a former fourth-round pick out of Alabama, started 13 games for the Los Angeles Chargers last season.
The 31-year-old has appeared in 77 career games (26 starts) since entering the league with the Detroit Lions in 2018, recording 131 tackles (83 solo), 6.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss and 14 QB hits.
“The Falcons have agreed to terms with DL Da’Shawn Hand on a one-year, $3 million deal, per The Insiders,” Garafolo reported on Friday afternoon. “The eight-year veteran heads to Atlanta on a deal negotiated by his agent Sean Kiernan of Athletes First.”
Atlanta needed more defensive line depth, and Hand gives the team some extra versatility up front. The veteran can help replace David Onyemata, who signed with the New York Jets in free agency.
