NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic is quickly learning just how ruthless Philadelphia Eagles fans can be.

Throughout the 2025 regular season, Russini kept reporting that A.J. Brown could be on the move, and yet, he remained on Howie Roseman’s roster. She then reported at the start of free agency that Brown might be traded to either the New England Patriots or Los Angeles Rams.

“A.J. Brown trade discussions are not dead,” Russini reported Friday morning. “Last week, I was told the Rams discussed trading for Eagles WR A.J. Brown before dealing for CB Trent McDuffie. Dialogue slowed, but Los Angeles continues to monitor the status of the three-time Pro Bowler with interest. We’ll see where both parties go from here.”

Several hours later, Russini revealed that Brown won’t be getting moved at this time.

“After serious conversations with both the Rams and Patriots, the Eagles will not trade A.J. Brown at this time, according to multiple league sources,” Russini wrote. “Both teams remain interested, but no move is imminent. If a trade were to happen, it would likely heat up closer to June 1.”

Immediately after Russini announced that Brown won’t be moved this spring, Eagles fans went on social media to voice their complaints over her reporting.

“You don’t say? It’s almost like the contract made it obvious he wouldn’t be traded before June 1st, but that didn’t fit with the need of NFL media to generate clicks at the expense of journalistic integrity,” one fan wrote on social media.

“Shocker… clickbait Russini strikes again,” a second fan commented.

“Two months of peace before she comes back,” another fan wrote. “Enjoy this time eagles fans.”

“Like I said, all this BS is media driven. And it started with this reporter right here. She’s relentless,” a social media user added.

Why won’t the Eagles trade Brown?

For starters, the Eagles reportedly want a first-round pick and a second-rounder in return for Brown. They’d also have to take on $43.5 million in dead money.

“If the Eagles were to bite the bullet and trade Brown early this offseason, they’d be taking on the 4th largest single season dead cap hit in NFL history,” Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac wrote.

Time will tell if the Eagles finally move on from Brown.
