According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added another veteran to their defensive front, signing edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, per a report shared on X.

Muhammad most recently played for the Detroit Lions and now joins a Tampa Bay defense that continues to add experience along the defensive line. The move gives the Buccaneers another veteran option in their outside linebacker rotation as the team continues building depth across the defensive front.

The 30-year-old defender brings experience from stops with the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, and Lions during his NFL career. Muhammad has primarily served as a rotational edge defender, helping collapse the pocket while holding his ground against the run.

Last season in Detroit, Muhammad logged 457 defensive snaps according to Pro Football Focus. During that stretch, he generated 53 total pressures, including three sacks, four quarterback hits, and 32 hurries while finishing with a 74.3 overall defensive grade.

With Muhammad now in the fold, Tampa Bay’s defensive line group continues to take shape heading toward training camp. The Buccaneers currently feature Calijah Kancey and Elijah Roberts at left defensive end, Vita Vea and Elijah Simmons at nose tackle, and A’Shawn Robinson alongside Greg Gaines on the right side of the defensive line.

On the edge, Muhammad joins a group that includes Yaya Diaby, Chris Braswell, rookie David Walker, Anthony Nelson, and Markees Watts. That group gives Tampa Bay several rotational options for Todd Bowles’ defense as the team continues preparing for the upcoming season.

The addition of Muhammad adds another experienced body to a defensive front that should be looking to add another name or two during the upcoming NFL Draft.
