As of Saturday morning, there are still 14 former New England Patriots players who remain unsigned in free agency.
The name that immediately jumps out on the list is wide receiver Stefon Diggs, the Patriots’ leading wideout from the 2025 season. He became the first Patriots receiver since Julian Edelman to eclipse 1,000 yards in a single NFL season last year.
New England would have loved to run it back another year, but they were forced to part ways due to the $26.5 million cap hit on Diggs’ contract for the 2026 season. However, Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf didn’t rule out a possible reunion with the four-time Pro Bowler.
“I wouldn’t say the door’s closed,” Wolf said, via Patriots Wire’s Sophie Weller. “I mean, again, we’re gonna look through every way we possibly can to help improve the team.”
Outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, linebacker Jack Gibbens, running back Antonio Gibson and linebacker Jahlani Tavai were also key contributors looking to potentially make a splash elsewhere in 2026.
