Commanders, Broncos and Jaguars could have interest in Saints trade rumor originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars are three teams that could still explore an addition at running back.

The Commanders entered the offseason with a big need at the position, as Jacory Croskey-Merritt was the only player under contract.
Washington has since signed guys like Rachaad White and Jerome Ford, but that’s a less than inspiring trio to enter the season with.
In Denver, the Broncos have brought J.K. Dobbins back to team up with RJ Harvey, but more insurance is needed with Dobbins’ injury history.
As for the Jaguars, they hadone of the most high-profile free-agent running backs in Travis Etienne, who has bolted for the New Orleans Saints, leaving Jacksonville with unproven players like Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez, who was signed in free agency, and LeQuint Allen.

Speaking of the Saints: they could have a running back available for trade, as Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports reports New Orleans is showing interest in Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr. in the 2026 NFL draft and could look to trade veteran back Alvin Kamara if they land Washington.
“The Saints are a team to watch [for Washington], as people at the workout tell me they could draft Washington in the second round, then trade or cut Alvin Kamara,” Pauline reported.
Questions about Kamara’s future have been raised ever since the Saints inked Etienne to a big free-agent contract.
It’s possible Kamara and Etienne could form a two-headed backfield with how important it is for the Saints to surround Tyler Shough with as much talent as possible, but drafting Washington in the second round would complicate things and Kamara could be the odd man out.

Kamara is coming off a down year in 2025 that was plagued by injury.
He will turn 31 in July, so decline is obviously a concern, but it is worth noting New Orleans’ offense was terrible for most of last season before Shough emerged, so maybe Kamara can have a resurgence in a better situation.
Any one of the three teams we listed would benefit from having a player like Kamara, who not only adds a top-flight pass-catcher out of the backfield, but also a strong veteran presence for the younger backs on said teams.
While he fits with the Broncos, Commanders and Jaguars, we’d pick Denver as the most likely landing spot due to Kamara’s connection with head coach Sean Payton from their days together in New Orleans.

The Broncos also give Kamara the best chance to win of those three squads.
