A fresh start can be an exciting time, especially for players who were already good, like Michael Pittman Jr. Pittman is hoping to get better after signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and there’s reason to believe he will.

After spending most of his career with the Indianapolis Colts, Pittman now finds himself in a new offensive system that should allow him to expand his role and showcase more of his skill set, something he’s said he wants to do.

Known for his above-average play, Pittman is the type of guy it makes sense to sign, no matter who the Steelers quarterback ends up being this year. While his role in Indianapolis was much different, Pittman stated that the offensive structure sometimes limited what he could show.

Now with the Steelers, he believes it could open the door to finding the versatility that helped him stand out earlier in his career. Pittsburgh’s offense hasn’t been

Speaking about his decision to sign with the Steelers, Pittman sounds pumped.

“I don’t want to give up his secret sauce, but it was very positive and diversifying the things that I can do,” Pittman said, per NFL.com. “Because, obviously, in Indy, I played a certain role there. You were asked to play a certain role. Like, you gotta do it. So (now I’m) just getting back to where I have more of a diverse route tree.

“I feel like I really showed that (diverse route-running) in my first three years and then it just kind of got narrowed down to certain things,” Pittman said.

Regarding if he wants to play with Aaron Rodgers, Pittman sounds more than open to doing so.

“Whenever you have a chance to play with a Hall of Fame quarterback, you always take that,” Pittman said. “We also have two really good quarterbacks here in Mason (Rudolph) and Will (Howard), so whatever ends up turning out, I think we’ll have a good plan offensively and we’ll make the most of it.”

Pittman will be a nice player, but finding the quarterback of the future is more important. Even if that future is short-term, the Steelers need to answer the question soon.
