NBC is making changes to “Sunday Night Football” in 2026.
The network is parting ways with longtime analyst Tony Dungy, who had been with the network for 17 years. Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning head coach, confirmed his ousting on social media. He’s deeply saddened by it.

“I have been informed by NBC that I won’t be back with FNIA this fall and it has given me time to reflect and also to look ahead,” he announced.
“It’s disappointing  news but I want to thank my NBC family for making the last 17 years so special.  I’ll have lasting memories of my time there, especially with Rodney Harrison who has become a tremendous friend.”
More changes could be coming, too.

Awful Announcing reports that other analysts, like Rodney Harrison and Jac Collinsworth, could be ousted from the program, too.

“Awful Announcing has learned that it is unlikely analyst Rodney Harrison will return next season and that Jac Collinsworth’s role on the show is also in question. Along with Dungy, the trio made up the show’s satellite studio that traveled on-site to each Sunday Night Football game throughout the season,” the outlet reported.
“Awful Announcing has also learned that those involved with the Football Night in America team are frustrated by how the news is unfolding, with some hearing about potential changes through media reports instead of directly from NBC.”
But what will happen to Collinsworth?
Collinsworth, the voice of Sunday Night Football in 2009, will return in 2026. He has signed a contract that’ll run through the 2029-30 season.

While Sunday Night Football is making a lot of changes, Collinsworth is not one of them.
Many NFL fans remain high on him.
“He has solidified his place as football’s most sagacious color commentator,” The New York Times wrote in 2023.
