The Arizona Cardinals have made a lot of moves so far in free agency in 2026. Are they better as a result? That is the big question.

It looks to many that they are trying to tank in 2026 with an eye on 2027.

In new power rankings from NFL.com’s Eric Edholm following a week of free agency, the Cardinals are definitely tanking.

They fell three spots all the way to be at the very bottom — No. 32.

Cardinals tanking in power rankings

I actually kind of liked a few of Arizona’s free-agent additions, including OG Isaac Seumalo and RB Tyler Allgeier, but it’s hard to ignore the big picture. The Cardinals still have a lot to sort out. The offensive line remains unfinished, I believe, despite adding a few journeyman tackles. The defensive front still needs reinforcements, even after all the picks they’ve allocated there in the past few years. And yes, quarterback remains a mystery. Right now, it’s Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew and who knows? If a draft QB such as Alabama’s Ty Simpson tempts them, the Cardinals might have to pull the trigger. Waiting until 2027 to solve that problem could guarantee another last-place finish, but then again, it might take a miracle to avoid the basement in the loaded NFC West anyway.

The Cardinals have added players at positions of need, and Allgeier and Seumalo are solid additions. But it looks like they are mostly running back a roster that went 3-14. Brissett and Minshew are a combined 37-75 as starters in their careers.

It’s hard to put the Cardinals anywhere but at the bottom. They looked like they were going to be a bad team and their additions in free agency are not inspiring.

At least they can’t go lower, right?
