After the NFL’s new league year opened Wednesday, teams finalized a wave of free-agent signings and trades. Now the league’s focus shifts toward the 2026 NFL Draft.
Teams will host dozens of prospects throughout March and April while continuing their behind-the-scenes evaluations.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will have to wait until Day 2 of the draft to make their first selection. Jacksonville dealt its 2026 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns last year to select Travis Hunter.

That limitation hasn’t stopped the Jaguars from developing an aggressive plan for their offense. Reports indicate Jacksonville likes this year’s tight end class, possibly enough to build parts of its offense around two of them.

Current TE1 Brenton Strange has provided a steady presence for the Jaguars, but Jacksonville could benefit from adding a dual-threat option alongside him to stress opposing defenses.

Many evaluators consider Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq the NFL Draft’s consensus top tight end prospect. Unfortunately for Jacksonville, his NFL Combine performance may have pushed him into first-round range for several teams.

One intriguing option could still remain within reach: Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers. At one point in the pre-draft process, Stowers ranked as the top tight end in the class.

Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers (9) makes a catch as he warms up before playing against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025.
Most projections place Stowers in the second round. Pairing him with Strange could give Jacksonville a dangerous two-tight-end combination.
Could that strategy help push the Jaguars toward a Super Bowl run? Another weapon would certainly make quarterback Trevor Lawrence happy.
