The San Francisco 49ers continue to reshape their offense this offseason.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the 49ers have reached an agreement with veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk, adding another experienced pass-catcher to the roster as the team looks to surround quarterback Brock Purdy with more proven weapons.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that Kirk’s one-year deal is worth $6 million.
Kirk, 29, brings eight years of NFL experience and a track record as a reliable slot receiver who can stretch the field and move the chains.
During the 2025 season with the Houston Texans, Kirk appeared in 13 games and finished with 28 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown. While those numbers were modest compared to some of his earlier seasons, the veteran wideout has consistently shown the ability to contribute in multiple roles throughout his career.
Over two playoff appearances in 2025, Kirk hauled in 164 yards on ten receptions and scored two touchdowns (the most of any AFC wide receiver during the NFL postseason).

More on new 49ers WR Christian Kirk
Originally a second-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M, Kirk has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Texans. Over the course of his career, he has established himself as a dependable route runner with the versatility to line up inside or outside.
At his best, Kirk has been a high-volume target, including a breakout 2022 season in Jacksonville when he surpassed 1,100 receiving yards.
Now, he joins a 49ers offense that is clearly emphasizing veteran experience at the wide receiver position.
Earlier this offseason, the 49ers made another significant move by signing star wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year deal. Evans, one of the most productive receivers of his generation, immediately gave the 49ers a proven No. 1 target capable of dominating on the outside and in the red zone.
With the additions of Evans and Kirk, the 49ers have effectively provided Purdy with two accomplished veterans who bring years of NFL experience and production to the offense.
For a team with championship aspirations, that kind of depth and reliability at wide receiver could prove critical.
If Evans provides the big-play and red-zone presence the 49ers covet, Kirk offers a complementary skillset — a polished route runner who can operate underneath, find soft spots in coverage, and keep drives alive.
Together, the moves signal a clear offseason priority for the 49ers: give Purdy as many dependable weapons as possible as they continue their push toward another Super Bowl run.
