DC Defenders | DB Deandre Baker

It’s been hinted at for weeks by Head Coach Shannon Harris – but Deandre Baker is finally back in the building. Baker has spent the last couple of years with DC, a former NFL second round pick who has been tremendous in the UFL.

Across the last two seasons with the DC Defenders, Deandre has totaled 44 tackles, two interceptions, and 10 PBU’s. He’s coming off an All-UFL campaign in 2025, notably coming up with a game-sealing interception in a week eight thriller over the Arlington Renegades.

Baker’s resume speaks for itself. He’s a got NFL experience, and now two years of extraordinary UFL play under his belt. Deandre will no doubt be a key piece to Blake Williams’ defense this season. They’ve got quite a bit of talent in the secondary, but Baker should insert himself right back into the starting lineup.

Houston Gamblers | DB Damon Arnette

In what’s a bit of a surprising move by Houston this late in camp, they’ve brought back Damon Arnette. It’s a major signing for the Gamblers this late in camp, as they have been a bit thin at corner.

Arnette, the former NFL first round pick with the Raiders, saw a fallout from the NFL’s ranks due to off field issues. After a couple of years without being on a team, Roughnecks’ HC C.J. Johnson and this organization gave him an opportunity to right the ship.

That’s exactly what Damon did in the UFL. Not only was he one of the top CB’s in the league, but Arnette showed that he’s grown quite a bit not just as a player, but as a person. His character was spoken highly of by Daryl Johnston and C.J. Johnson throughout the season.

Damon went on to sign with the Houston Texans, playing excellent ball during the preseason. This earned him a short stint on their practice squad. Damon is another high profile prospect, who, similar to Baker, should be a starter in Houston immediately.

Roster Losses

Houston Gamblers, DT Fatorma Mulbah: In a corresponding move, the Gamblers released Fatorma Mulbah. Fatorma was one of the underrated additions to their roster this offseason, but with some of the depth they have up front with Kyon Barrs, Rashard Lawrence, and others – Mulbah will have to look for a home elsewhere.

Columbus Aviators, P Jake Camarda: This one is weird. Jake Camarda, the former fourth round NFL draft pick, was a huge addition to this Aviators special teams room. The UFL reported that he retired. Camarda commented on a social media post on Instagram that he did not retire, though – so we hope to get clarity on that soon.
