During former Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco’s introductory press conference, he revealed to Detroit reporters that the Chiefs offered him a contract to stay in Kansas City.
“There were a lot of teams, (and) I had eight opportunities to go to different teams. Kansas City was one of them.” Pacheco said, “Once they made that move (signed Kenneth Walker III), I knew that I had to open up the door to go somewhere else. This (Lions) was the first place I thought of.”
Pacheco signed a one-year, $1.81 million fully guaranteed contract with the Detroit Lions last Tuesday. In 2025, Pacheco finished second on the team in rushing with 462 yards, averaging just 35 rushing yards per game and 3.9 per carry.

The former 7th-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft became a pleasant surprise with his production and eventually became the team’s starting running back. The former Rutgers star rushed for 1,765 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first two seasons, while also catching 57 passes for 374 yards.
