It feels weird to put a guy in the coping corner this time of year and yet- Ugh I think we have to do it.

Like, you, you look at going into this off-season, it was Rashaad White’s gonna leave in free agency, and maybe Sean Tucker would be back on the RFA tender, but he would be the number two, and now there might be more opportunity for Irving to have some of the pass-catching work, and we can get excited about that, and now it would just be a two-man backfield, not a three-man backfield.

And what did they do?

I think they went out and got a better player in Kenneth Gainwell, in Kenny Gainwell, than Rashaad White.

I think Gainwell is gonna be even more of a problem.

He fits a lot of the same work there.

I’m just super worried.

I think this is a three-man committee for sure, and I just don’t see the ceiling anymore for Bucky Irving.

I’ve moved him down into, like, the low-end RB2 range, and I think he’s gonna be a, a disappointing back.

And it’s super unfortunate, because even when he came back from the injury last year, I, I thought he had a chance to get going.

They had a pretty good schedule.

We saw some decent games from him, but really not any true ceiling games.

And now I wonder, how often is he actually gonna have these ceiling games if this is the situation where Kenny Gainwell is an overqualified number two, and Tucker is there taking goal line work?

Aren’t you worried?

Yeah, I’m definitely worried.

I will say, March 17th coping corner feels super harsh for Bucky Irving.

probably the, only time I, I’m sure in our post-free agency panic meter show I don’t even know if we did post-free agency panic meter shows.

I’m, I’m sure we did, in previous seasons.

I don’t know that we ever threw anybody in the coping corner in March.

But you know what?

I love the boldness, Boone.

N- d- big bag Boone on the contract extensions, just like, “You know what?”

Oh, my gosh.

“Coping corner for Bucky Irving.”

No, but on- Oh, Lord but on a serious note, I, I do think that when we’re looking at the Bucky Irving thing, the only, like, maybe devil’s advocate I would play here is, you know, Sean Tucker as the goal line back.

Like, they gave Sean Tucker the exclusive rights for agent tender.

He, he might not even be on the roster.

Like, they were kind of waffled on him even getting there.

So that would just be, like, one thing I’d monitor here.

I wouldn’t say, like, “Oh, boy.

They brought back Sean Tucker.

He is for sure going to be the goal line, back previous.

Like, going forward, no question about it.”

That is just something I think, I, I think that just, that, that would be one, like, silver lining here maybe that happened.

But right now, definitely pretty concerning from a Bucky Irving standpoint.

There’s no question he is one of the bigger guys you gotta worry about coming out of free agency.
