New Orleans Saints defensive back Beanie Bishop was suspended for the first three games of the 2026 season, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.
The league did not list a reason for Bishop’s ban, but a source with knowledge of the situation said it stemmed from a violation of the substances of abuse policy.
The 26-year-old joined the Saints’ practice squad last December and signed a futures contract with New Orleans at the end of the season.
Bishop will be eligible to participate throughout the Saints’ offseason, but once rosters are cut down to 53 players, he’ll be required to sit out the first few weeks of the season.
Undrafted out of West Virginia in 2024, Bishop began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He notably picked off former New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers twice during a Week 7 game and finished with four interceptions in his rookie year. But Bishop, listed at 5-foot-9 and 182 pounds, failed to make Pittsburgh’s roster the following year.
He did not appear in a game in 2025.
