The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted two pre-draft visitors Tuesday according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Christopher Carter. Miami (FL) QB Carson Beck and San Diego State CB Chris Johnson were in on Tuesday afternoon to meet with the team.

This is the first quarterback they have met with, according to reports, and a notable one given NFL insider Todd McShay’s recent report of the Steelers’ interest in him.

Beck was the quarterback for the National Championship runner-up Miami Hurricanes in 2025 but spent the first five seasons of his college career with Georgia, where he played a small role in a pair of National Championship seasons.

In 2025, Beck completed 338 of his 467 attempts (72.4 percent) for 3,813 yards, 30 TDs and 12 INTs. He led his conference in completions and completion rating last season. His stats were remarkably consistent over his three seasons as a full-time starter, including two at Georgia.

Beck measured in at 6046, 233 pounds, with 10-inch hands at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. He did not run or otherwise participate in the drills for further testing data. It’s always hard to pin down the draft stock of mid-round quarterbacks who can be pushed up the board, but Beck is currently projected to go in the fourth-round range.

Chris Johnson is viewed as one of the top corners in the class, projected to be taken off the board in the first or second round. In four seasons at San Diego State, Johnson had 152 tackles (3.5 TFL), 14 passes defensed, six INTs, five FFs, and two TDs on defense. That included a career-high four INTs, two returned for TDs, in 2025.

Johnson measured in at the combine at 6000, 193 pounds, with 30 5/8-inch arms. He ran an impressive 4.40-second 40-yard dash and posted a 38-inch vertical with 17 reps on the bench press. Johnson participated at the Senior Bowl, where various Steelers scouts would have watched him perform alongside other top draft prospects.

Including local prospect Khalil Dinkins, who doesn’t count against the 30-visit limit, the Steelers are now up to six reported visits. Check out the full list of pre-draft visitors below.
