Florida native & former football star Rex Culpepper dies after dirt bike crash in Georgia at age 28: reports

  • March 18, 2026

Multiple social media posts and news reports have confirmed that Rex Culpepper, a former Syracuse quarterback and son of former UF star Brad Culpepper, has died after a dirt bike crash Saturday in Georgia.

The 28-year-old, a standout Florida high school football player, had recently become engaged.

His fiancée, Savanna Morgan, posted on social media about his death.

His alma mater also shared a post about mourning Rex, saying he appeared in 30 games for the Orange and “played football as fierce as he lived life.”

The Syracuse post added that Rex was a cancer survivor at age 20 while playing for the Orange.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Rex was diagnosed with testicular cancer in March 2018 and was declared cancer-free after extensive chemotherapy in June 2018.

His father, Brad Culpepper, who was a defensive tackle in the NFL and played under coach Steve Spurrier at UF, went on to become a star of the hit CBS reality show “Survivor,” along with his wife, Monica.

Brad is now a prominent attorney in Tampa, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Attorney John Morgan said that Rex, who also went into law, was “a young star at Morgan and Morgan.”

“I’ve known him since he was a little boy,” John Morgan wrote. “I am shattered as is our firm. Please keep his parents and my dear friends Brad and Monica in your prayers.”

We are devastated at the loss of Rex Culpepper. He had just gotten engaged and had his life in front of him.

He was a young star at Morgan and Morgan. Only 28. I’ve known him since he was a little boy.
