They beat the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final 3-0, the final score. The series is now 3-1. The Panthers lead. Why was this game so important? Well, the Canes can’t lose another 11 more loss would end Carolina’s season. On top of that, the Canes had a 15 game losing streak in the Eastern Conference final that dated all the way back to 2009. Before this game, the last time the Canes won a game in the Eastern Conference Final was 2006, the same year they won the Stanley Cup. Rookie Logan Stankovn was a playmaker. In this one, he scored the first goal for the Canes, got them on the board, and gave them their first lead of the series in the second period with a great assist from fellow rookie Alexander Nationin. Goaltender Freddie Anderson back in net pitched a shutout, his 2nd shutout of the postseason. So what comes next? Well, game 5. The Canes will come back to Raleigh. They’ll play game 5 in Lenovo Center on Wednesday. Puck drop for that one is 8 p.m.
