Take a bow, Boston Scott. On Tuesday, the former New Orleans Saints running back announced his retirement after seven years in the NFL. A local product from Zachary, La. who played college football at Louisiana Tech, Scott was picked by the Saints in the sixth round of the 2018 draft. But they waived him that summer, the Philadelphia Eagles claimed him on waivers, and the rest is history.

Scott ultimately appeared in 75 regular season games and eight playoff games, all with the Eagles, receiving a 2018 Super Bowl ring on their practice squad and totaling 1,295 rushing yards, with 16 touchdown runs. He also caught 71 passes for 566 yards and another touchdown. Hard running against the division-rival New York Giants developed Scott’s reputation as a giant slayer, helped by ten of his career touchdowns and diminutive 5-foot-6 frame. Scott was out of football in 2025 after trying out at Los Angeles Rams training camp in 2024, ending his year on the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. Now he’s hanging up his cleats.

Good for him going out on his own terms. Scott shared his decision from his official Instagram account, admitting that he always thought it would be an injury or, maybe, a Super Bowl win sending him off to retirement. Instead, he’s choosing to move to the next chapter of his own accord.
