The New York Jets have become the first NFL team to adopt SmartFrame‘s image-streaming technology for its official photography, marking the company’s first partnership with an NFL or U.S. pro sports franchise.
Under the partnership, photos from New York Jets games and events will publish on SmartFrame and made available for free embedding, while the team retains full ownership and control over how the images are used and monetized.
“We’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance how we connect with our fans and partners,” said Jeff Fernandez, senior vice president, Business Development & Ventures, New York Jets. “SmartFrame’s technology gives us the tools to protect our images while unlocking new revenue streams from content we’re already producing. We’re excited to be working with the company on these objectives.”
SmartFrame streams images directly to websites instead of static downloads, enabling interactive features like full-screen viewing as well as its proprietary Hyper Zoom, along with embedded captions and verified ownership. The approach helps prevent image theft, provides audience insights, and generates revenue through in-image advertising shared by content owners and publishers.
The deal marks SmartFrame’s first partnership with an NFL team and any U.S. pro sports franchise, adding to its global roster that already includes organizations like New Zealand Rugby, Six Nations Rugby and several Premier League clubs.
“For decades, sports teams around the world have produced exceptional images, only to lose control of them once they appear online,” said Rob Sewell, CEO of SmartFrame Technologies. “We’re delighted to have the New York Jets as the first NFL team to adopt our technology for their official images, turning visual content into a strategic asset rather than a cost of doing business, and joining other leading sports organizations already enjoying the same benefits.”
