Former NFL star Antonio Brown has been granted permission to leave the state of Florida as he awaits his attempted murder trial.

Brown, 37, was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder in the state of Florida. He allegedly shot at a man at a boxing event in Florida in May of 2025. Brown, attending an Adin Ross boxing event, allegedly shot and could have killed his former friend, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Natambu.

The former NFL star, who has entered into a plea of not-guilty, was extradited from the United Arab Emirates last year. Brown was placed under house arrest during a court appearance in November 2025.

But now, he’s been granted permission to leave the state of Florida.

Brown, who is facing up to 30 years in prison, has been granted permission to leave the state of Florida, but only on medical conditions.

TMZ Sports reports that Brown will travel from Florida to California for a medical examination.

According to documents filed by Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, the request was made for the court to allow Brown to travel to Southern California “for a medical examination.”

“Since his release, he has been fully compliant and has adhered to all terms and
conditions imposed by the Court,” Eiglarsh said in the request, per TMZ Sports.

The prosecutor was reportedly on-board with the request.

“It’s unclear exactly what his doctor’s visit is for, but the judge approved the request on Wednesday,” TMZ Sports added.

Brown had a history of injuries in the NFL

Brown suffered several severe injuries during his NFL career, including some concussions. Brown famously suffered a concussion during a January 9, 2016 AFC Wild Card Game. He was concussed following a helmet-to-helmet hit by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

The former NFL star claims to have suffered from loss of consciousness, memory loss and more as a result of his injuries.

Brown is facing up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
