The Buffalo Bills finished the 2025 NFL season in frustrating fashion once again, failing to make a Super Bowl run.
Over the last few years, they have been consistently viewed as one of the top contenders to win a championship. Unfortunately, they have been unable to win in the playoffs when it matters most. Josh Allen and company are hopeful of changing that trend in 2026.
With that being said, Brandon Beane and the Bills’ front office have been busy this offseason. Buffalo has already added quite a few pieces, including wide receiver D.J. Moore, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and pass rusher Bradley Chubb.
It is clear that the Bills will not stop attempting to push for a Super Bowl win. Keeping that in mind, the team has been urged to consider pursuing another free agency splash.
Buffalo Bills Urged to Pursue 10-Time Pro Bowl Linebacker
Brandon Ray of FanSided has suggested that longtime star Bobby Wagner would be the next elite target Buffalo should set its sights on.
“The Bills still have a need at linebacker and quite frankly, it would make more sense to go through the draft and develop,” Ray wrote.
“However, with a new era at One Bills Drive, fans should not put anything past on what could happen. If the Bills were to land Wagner on a one-year deal, it would bring immediate improvement and leadership to this defense.”
Let’s dive into the suggestion and take a look at how Wagner could fit with the Bills.
Bobby Wagner Could Be the Final Piece of a Bills’ Super Bowl Puzzle
Even at 35 years old, Wagner is one of the most productive linebackers in the NFL. He has shown no signs of slowing down and is more than capable of being a key player on a Super Bowl contending defense.
Last season with the Washington Commanders, Wagner played in all 17 regular season games. He racked up 162 total tackles to go along with 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, and four defended passes.
Wagner has been an elite tackler throughout his career. He is a solid pass rusher as well from the inside linebacker position, racking up 39.5 sacks throughout his career. In addition, he is known for being a playmaker with seven forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, and 15 interceptions.
Giving out a one-year deal to talent like Wagner would be well worth the move for Buffalo.
Not only does Wagner make an impact on the field, his leadership would be a huge addition for the Bills as well. Wagner has won a Super Bowl back in his days with the Seattle Seahawks. That kind of experience would be valuable.
This is just an idea at this point in time. No reports have connected Buffalo to having interest in Wagner. But, the move would make a lot of sense and should be considered by the Bills.
