The New York Giants selected cornerback Deonte Banks with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. In this re-draft of that selection, the Giants instead choose cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
Banks recorded two interceptions during his rookie season in 2023, but has not collected any since. He started all 29 games he played across his first two seasons with the Giants, but appeared in only six starts across 16 games in 2025.
The Giants passed on Porter Jr.—as well as other prospects, including a future Super Bowl champion defensive end—in favor of Banks originally. This re-draft provides New York with a new foundational piece at cornerback.

The Giants opted for a cornerback with the No. 24 overall pick in 2023, and Porter Jr. addresses a clear area of need for the franchise. The Penn State product has recorded one interception in each of his three NFL seasons to date. He also tallied 14 passes defensed in 2025. Porter Jr., who has twice held opponents to a completion percentage under 49 percent across his three seasons, offers a stronger option over Banks, who has twice allowed a completion rate above 64 percent in his career.
Honorable mention: DE Derick Hall (Seattle Seahawks)No. 37 overall pick – Seattle Seahawks
Hall delivered an exceptional performance in Super Bowl LX, where the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots, 29-13. His 2.0 sacks were key contributions to Seattle’s dominant defensive effort. Hall also recorded eight sacks and 20 QB hits during the 2024 regular season with the Seahawks.
