The Miami Dolphins have been quite busy this offseason, bringing in several players from other teams in the last week for the 2026 season, including defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr.
According to Over the Cap, Miami gave Johnson a one-year deal worth $1.49 million. The deal includes a $1.3 million base salary and a $187,500 signing bonus. His cap hit for 2026 is $1.26 million.
If the Dolphins wanted to move on from Johnson before Week 1, they could do so and save most of the deal ($1.08) while getting charged a small dead cap hit ($187,500).
While the contract doesn’t guarantee him a spot on the roster for the season opener, Johnson’s ability to play cornerback and safety in the NFL may give the Dolphins a reason to keep him around.
