Waddle was a damn good signing. We’ve finally got a real offensive game breaker. But I still feel like we’re missing a little oomph. Here’s where I’d like to see the Broncos go from here.
Go from a good trade to a great trade.
Here’s how we put a bow on the Waddle deal: Trade Franklin for a 3rd round pick.
If we can do this, we’ve effectively upgraded our Y receiver with a premium talent, and it only cost us the 30th pick in the draft PLUS we move up in the 4th (from Dolphins) and 3rd (assuming the Franklin trade is done within 1 of the 29 teams with a worse record than us).
This turns a great trade into a full on stroke of genius from Paton.
Our top 3 receivers can now fully eat with Sutton, Waddle and the ascending Bryant taking the lion’s share of the snaps. Plus the wild card in Mims.
Continue being aggressive and get us a year 1 impact player in the draft
With a full war chest of picks I’d now like to see us get aggressive and try to get into the end of the 1st or top of the 2nd.
Ideally nab a top 3 RB that can really contribute in year 1 and help us bolster the high ceiling but shaky foundation of Dobbins / Harvey.
But I’d be happy with a TE or ILB as well. As long as they can take meaningful snaps in 2026.
Hope that a sleeper emerges
This is a bit of wishful thinking but we need to hope that a sleeper emerges from our current roster to make a big splash this year.
I’ll be particularity interested in Loehner and if he’s been in the hopper long enough to finally put his freak athleticism to use.
But I’ll also give an honorable mention to the long awaited debut of Drew Sanders at ILB.
If these things come together, and we roll into 2026 with Waddle, a 1st round-ish RB, and a freak TE added to our roster from last year, watch out.
