Thursday brought something I didn’t think I would see again.
Dyami Brown again with the Washington Commanders, saying he was glad to be back. Brown had left following the 2024 season via free agency, signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Brown had signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Jaguars, but things didn’t go well for Brown in Jacksonville, as Brown collected only 20 receptions for 227 yards and a single touchdown.
The last time we heard from Brown, when he was still a Washington Commander, the day after the team’s NFC Championship Game loss in Philadelphia. The players were cleaning out their lockers, and media members were present. WJLA Sports Anchor Scott Abraham was present and posted his exchange with Brown on Twitter (X). “Let me ask you this: Do you want to stay here?” Brown laughed and said, “It wouldn’t be a problem staying.”
Abraham, thinking it strange that Brown didn’t simply reply that he, of course, wanted to return, posted the exchange on X. Upon seeing it, we also shared the story. Sure enough, Brown did depart, signing with the Jaguars. That exchange was certainly not one of Brown’s better days in being persuasive that he wanted to play again for the Commanders.
But now, Brown is back, signing another one-year deal to return to Washington. Commanders Wire certainly hopes he finds success here in his second stint with the organization. The past incident behind him, Brown moves forward, hoping for better days with the Commanders.

“I missed being here, I’m excited to be back,” expressed Brown. Hey, we understand that, Dyami. How many times has each of us said things we later wished we had not said? How many times have we made decisions we later wished we had not made?
“I wanted to be back, I wanted to come back, and it got done.”
Brown spoke positively, Thursday of his experience in Jacksonville, mentioning he learned some things from various players including quarterback Trevor Lawrence, summing it up that it was a good overall experience for him with the Jaguars in 2025. Brown said he is now better than ever, having grown so much, both mentally and physically.
Brown was visibly and audibly upbeat about the changes to the Commanders’ Ashburn facility, since he departed after the 12-5 2024 season. “Just coming back and seeing how everything looks way different than when I was here before. The locker room does look amazing. It’s a lot of growth that came to the facility, so that’s pretty cool.”
In his first four years in the NFL (all in Washington) brought caught 59 passes, averaging 13.3 yards per a reception, including four touchdowns. Here’s to hoping it is a successful return for Brown to Washington.
