New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has been involved in trade rumors this offseason, as the Oregon product doesn’t have a long-term future with the franchise, with Brian Burns and 2025 No. 3 overall pick Abdul Carter set to start over him.
That said, Sports Illustrated’s Mike Kadlick proposes a trade that would give Thibodeaux a fresh start with the Chicago Bears.
“The Bears were in on Maxx Crosby before his situation ultimately ended with him returning to the Raiders, and they’ve yet to truly address the edge rusher position this offseason. Trading for Thibodeaux, who’s still on his rookie contract, would be yet another victory for Ryan Poles & Co. in Chicago,” Kadlick said.
Chicago could use another impact pass rusher opposite Montez Sweat, and taking a flyer on Thibodeaux would be a savvy move by general manager Ryan Poles.
Thibodeaux has posted just eight sacks over the last two years, but in his last fully healthy season in 2023, the 25-year-old had 11.5 sacks and looked like a budding superstar.
Playing opposite Sweat with the Bears could unlock Thibodeaux’s game, as there’s no denying his talent and athleticism at 6-foot-5 and nearly 260 pounds.
The Bears need to add to their edge rusher group sooner rather than later, and pulling off a trade for Thibodeaux could take Dennis Allen’s pass rush to the next level in 2026.
