Former Denver Broncos fullback Michael Burton had a free agent visit with the Cleveland Browns on Friday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.
Burton (5-11, 247 pounds) is a 34-year-old veteran who has spent time with six NFL teams, including two stints under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints and a two-year run with the Kansas City Chiefs that included a Super Bowl win. Burton reunited with Payton when he joined the Broncos in 2023, and he played all 17 games in 2023 and 2024.
Burton was poised to handle fullback duties in 2025 before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury during preseason. Denver replaced him with Adam Prentice, who played well enough to earn another one-year contract this offseason.
Used primarily as a blocker, Burton rushed 14 times for 17 yards, seven first downs and one touchdown with the Broncos. He also hauled in 13 receptions for 73 yards, five first touchdowns and one score as a receiver out of the backfield. Burton is one of nine ex-Denver players who remain unsigned free agents.
