The San Francisco 49ers still have several in-house free agents who haven’t signed elsewhere. It’s unclear if that’s because they’re too expensive or teams aren’t interested, but it leaves the possibility of them returning to the 49ers in some capacity.
As of this writing, there are currently 12 players who were on the 49ers roster in 2025 who are still free agents. Only a few of them were starters, though, like receiver Jauan Jennings and punter Thomas Morstead. San Francisco effectively replaced both of them after signing receiver Mike Evans and punter Corliss Waitman in free agency.
