The New England Patriots’ moves this offseason have been met with criticism in Pro Football Focus’ post-free agency power rankings.
According to PFF’s Mason Cameron, the Patriots were ranked No. 11 out of all 32 teams for the unit that they’ve put together thus far this offseason.
”After a run to the Super Bowl this past season, the Patriots faced difficult offseason decisions,” Cameron said. “As a result, they lost Stefon Diggs, K’Lavon Chaisson and Jaylinn Hawkins, the team’s leaders in receiving yardage, sacks and interceptions, respectively. New England made every effort to fill those voids with quality veterans in receiver Romeo Doubs, edge Dre’Mont Jones and All-Pro safety Kevin Byard, though. The Patriots should be a contender once again.”
The Patriots also lost defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.
New England traded center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears for draft stock. The Patriots struck a deal with guard Alijah Vera-Tucker in the open market to add to their offensive line. New England has compensated for their losses this offseason to retain a competitive roster on paper for next season.
