When Jalen Hurts popped up in an Olympic commercial to jumpstart the hype train for the USA’s flag football team, we didn’t think much about it. Then, he played pretty well at the Pro Bowl games. Now Fanatics has its affair. Let’s just say the Philadelphia Eagles QB1 is getting some burn on social media. It appears that, as in the pro game, flag football gave Hurts a lesson in overcoming adversity. Logan Paul reached Hurts to earn a ‘sack’. That wouldn’t stop Philadelphia’s star from notching some highlights of his own. He tossed one for DeVonta Smith for six (good idea). He even scored a TD as a receiver.
Team USA’s performance proved a point. The 2028 Olympic team is stacked. Their knowledge of flag football offered them an advantage. They won all three of the games at the Fanatics Flag Football Showcase. They outscore their opponents 106-44. They also scored on 14 of their 15 possessions.
While NFL players are the best in the world. Flag football is a different game. Don’t expect the NFL’s best and brightest to simply walk in and kick these guys off the roster if they have any desire to do so.
Still, several of the pro stars shone. Joe Burrow continues to stack highlight-reel moments in these things, while Odell Beckham Jr. proved that, despite losing a few steps, he’s still one of the better athletes walking Planet Earth. Who knew this game could be this interesting?
