Wide receiver Stefon Diggs played a major role in New England’s run to the Super Bowl last year, but the four-time Pro Bowler is still a free agent. While the former fifth-round pick has lost a step now that he’s on the wrong side of 30, last year proved he’s still an above-average receiver who can be a vital part of any passing attack. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, Diggs finished the season with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns on 102 targets.
Despite this strong play, Diggs’ high salary and his ongoing legal troubles forced the Patriots to release him after the season. While he could still return to New England, there is a good chance he will land with a new organization. According to Bleacher Report‘s Kristopher Knox, the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans could be leading the charge for his services.
“[T]he 32-year-old wasn’t as explosive as he was before his 2024 ACL tear,” Knox writes. “Diggs is also facing an ongoing legal battle stemming from the alleged assault of his personal chef. However, he also topped 1,000 yards while serving as New England’s top receiver in 2025, and he may be a little quicker with another year between him and the injury.”
Ravens, Titans Projected to Sign Stefon Diggs
It’s easy to see why Knox chose these two teams, as the Ravens and Titans both have an extensive history of kicking the tires on aging veteran receivers. The Ravens brought in DeAndre Hopkins last year, but they’ve also flirted with Odell Beckham in recent years. Both players provided solid depth for Lamar Jackson and company, but Diggs appears to have the most left in his tank.
Fresh off a 1,000-yard season, Stefon Diggs could be the free agent this team desperately needs. Zay Flowers can handle life as a WR1, but Rashod Bateman has yet to step up as a consistent WR2. Diggs and Flowers wouldn’t make anyone forget about the 2007 New England Patriots depth chart, but they’d form an above-average starting duo for an MVP-caliber quarterback in Lamar Jackson. Adding more offensive firepower to the mix could be just what this team needs to offset losses on the offensive and defensive lines.
Helping Cam Ward
Reigning first-overall pick Cam Ward had a rough rookie season from a statistical standpoint, but nobody should blame the Miami product for struggling in a terrible environment. Ward entered the season with the league’s worst supporting cast, and the team fired head coach Brian Callahan midway through the season. The jury is still out on whether or not Ward can develop into a legitimate franchise quarterback, but the Titans must give him the chance to actually succeed before passing judgment.
Stefon Diggs may not be the player he once was, but the free agent would still be the best receiver Cam Ward has ever targeted. While Wan’Dale Robinson will help keep the offense ahead of the chains, this team could use an intermediate threat like Diggs. Pairing him with Robinson and returning veteran Calvin Ridley should give Ward enough pieces to at least keep the offense afloat in the upcoming season.
