Texas Children’s Houston Open returns to Memorial Park, supporting local families and kids’ care

  • March 22, 2026

HOUSTON – The Texas Children’s Houston Open is back in town this week, bringing top golfers to Memorial Park and supporting the community beyond the course.

Joining KPRC 2 in-studio Sunday morning was the President of the Astros Golf Foundation, Giles Kibbe, to explain why hosting the tournament in the center of the city matters for Houstonians, and how the event continues to give back locally.

Kibbe also shared how the tournament helps support Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest children’s hospital in the US, including programs and care that benefit kids and families across our area.

“All the proceeds from the tournament go to the Astros Golf Foundation. We partner with Texas Children’s to help them. We have a program there—the nuero-oncology group—that’s a great synergy with the Astros Golf Foundation which fights children’s cancer,” Kibbe said.

For viewers unfamiliar with golf, he outlined what fans can expect during tournament week—from the on-course action to the overall experience at Memorial Park.

“It’s a really exciting venue. Memorial Park is such a big place. The golf course as well. We do a lot of things with Texas Children’s, there are activations with all of our sponsors throughout the grounds. It’s a lot of fun just to watch the best players in the world play golf, and we have some great entertainment there, so it’s fun for everyone,” Kibbe said.

The Texas Children’s Houston Open runs from March 23-29.

For those who want to support the tournament’s mission or learn more, Kibbe said to visit www.tchouopen.com.
