The Minnesota Vikings saw the departure of Jalen Nailor this offseason, and Jordan Addison is in line for a new contract. As a result, the depth behind Justin Jefferson could become uncertain depending on what the Vikings want to do with Addison.

Could the Vikings decide to go wide receiver in Round 1 to protect themselves if they don’t want to pay Addison long-term and as a replacement for Nailor in the short-term?

While it’s a possibility, especially if a player were to fall to them at No. 18, FanSided’s Austen Bundy is warning the Vikings that if they do ponder a wideout, there’s one name they need to avoid: former Arizona State Sun Devils star Jordyn Tyson.

“With the departure of Jalin Nailor in free agency and the premature passing of Rondale Moore, the Vikings are in need of a WR3,” Bundy wrote in his article that was published on March 21. “Jordan Addison is on the final year of his rookie contract and could get a huge pay day in free agency if Minnesota can’t afford his services. All of those circumstances make selecting a wide receiver in the first round very tempting…

“Minnesota should hold steady and address a different need at No. 18 rather than panic and take Jordyn Tyson. The Arizona State product is considered a first-round talent and probably will be selected in the first 32 picks. That being said, he suffered a staggering number of injuries in college including a torn ACL, MCL, PCL and a pulled hamstring. His numbers despite those are incredibly impressive but should Minnesota use its first round selection on a guy who poses the risk of reaggravating any of those ailments?”

DeAndre Hopkins Sends Message to Vikings, Kyler Murray

Amid the Vikings needing a WR3, one former teammate of new Vikings QB Kyler Murray is offering his services to Minnesota as a reliable veteran for the third wideout role. Speaking to TMZ Sports, DeAndre Hopkins said he would like to reunite with Murray, whom he played with during his time with the Arizona Cardinals.

“Kyler … that’s my bro, man. Kyler is like family,” Hopkins said in a TMZ article published on March 22. “Whatever I can do for someone like that — if Kyler needed me, if the Vikings need me, they know I’ll be there.”

Could Keon Coleman Be an Option for Minnesota?

Nonetheless, Hopkins’ name isn’t the only one in the speculation mill that’s emerging to fill that third wideout role on the depth chart.

In a March 19 article, Bundy also wrote that Minnesota would be an ideal landing spot for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman, who might need a change of scenery if he wants to get his NFL career back on track.

“If Coleman is continuing to struggle to produce like the early-round selection he was, Buffalo could easily find a suitor by the deadline,” Bundy wrote. “The Minnesota Vikings are hoping to be a buyer now that QB Kyler Murray is at the helm with weapons Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at his disposal.

“With the departure of Jalin Nailor and premature passing of Rondale Moore, the Vikings are in need of a WR3. Coleman could get a new lease on his career and demonstrate he’s still an elite prospect while Buffalo recoups value and Beane can select the guy he actually wants.”
